Founded in 1839,The University of Chichester is an open university which received its university status in 2005. Notably, the University of Chichester is a member of The Cathedrals Group.
Situated in West Sussex, England, the university maintains two campuses one in Chichester city and the other in Bognor Regis. The university maintains 14 departments offering specialization programs in sport, humanities, musical theatre, Engineering, Computing, Business, and education. The main campus of Bishop Otter includes modern facilities and historic buildings. The University houses a student population of more than 5,000 with 4,374 undergraduates, 1000 postgraduate, and 95 postgraduate research students. Around 1% of the student population at the university represents international students. Further, students who enroll in a research program are offered exciting opportunities to decide their own research area. The university, even after graduation, offers support through the Careers and Employability Service. It helps at all stages of students’ programs and provides them with a variety of information, advice, and guidance. It works hand-in-hand with the academic departments to provide career consultancy while organizing workshops, business events, and lecture sessions. Students here can participate in various activities involving performing arts, music, and dance. Additionally, the students' union at the university is run by the students and for the students. This independent body works to benefit students and hosts several events throughout the year at the university.
Moreover, the university maintains a number of societies and clubs to let students pursue their interests. Besides, Michael 'Herbie' Blash (Ex-FIA Deputy Race Director at Formula One) and Laurie Borg (television and film producers) are the notable alumni of the university.
