History, Affiliations & Rankings
The University of Canberra, a public university in the Australian Capital Territory, is considered the soul and embodiment of Canberra. Its long-standing excellence in research and utter emphasis of entrepreneurship contributes to offering an unique university experience. Established in 1967 as the Canberra College of Advanced Education (CAE), the university got its university status under sponsorship of Monash University only in 1990. The Times Higher Education World Rankings 2020 ranked the university among Australia’s top 10 universities, making it a part of the top 1% in the country. In addition, the university is ranked among the world’s top 20 young universities in the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings (2020) and 26th in the overall QS Australian Universities World Rankings.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
Spread across an area of 290 acres, the University of Canberra’s campus is located in the suburb of Bruce. In addition, the university offers degrees at multiple locations in Sydney, Melbourne, Queensland, Hong Kong, Vietnam, China, India and Bhutan. UC offers undergraduate, postgraduate and higher degree by research (HDR) options across faculties including Arts and Design; Business, Government and Law; Education; Health; and Science and Technology. It also has a rich variety of facilities or technology-enabled spaces for teaching and learning such as laboratories, research centres and institutions, an international centre of excellence in sport and numerous collaborative student spaces.  

Accomplishments & Alumni
UC is proud of its alumni who have achieved recognition in a variety of fields including law, business, government, humanities and even sports and made an impact on all corners of the globe. Some of them include Shane Drumgold SC, Andrew Bass, Betty Kitchener, Vivek Wadhwa, Simon Corbell, Kelly Hoare, Virginia Judge, Ben Alexander and Matt Worley. The university also prides itself on its transformational research and innovation across areas such as comms and culture, education, environment, governance, health and even sport. It further pushes for external collaborative research with Canberra Urban and Regional Futures, Centre for Invasive Species Solutions, Collaborative Indigenous Research Initiative (CIRI), Digital Health Cooperative Research Centre and eWater.

UC boasts thousands of international students who come from around the globe every year to experience their popular industry-based learning. The diverse community at the university are well-networked locally and globally through a number of partnerships and on-campus opportunities. Ranked #1 in the ACT for full-time employment, three years in a row, in the 2021 edition of Good Universities Guide, the university offers a wide range of internships, work placements and industry projects. It, in fact, has one of the largest work integrated learning (WIL) programs in the country, letting students enjoy real-world work experiences and clinical placements even before graduation.
