About University of Stirling

The University of Stirling, established in 1967 through a royal charter, is a reputable public university in Stirling, Scotland. Lord Lionel Robbins, an acclaimed economist, was the university's first chancellor. Students can pursue both bachelor’s and master’s level programmes at the university's five faculties. The programmes cover diverse areas of education like accountancy, biology, business, computer science, creative writing, media, and politics. The university received accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and is affiliated to the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU). Notably, the university received five stars (the highest rating) in the university rankings given by QS World under five categories, including employability, teaching, inclusiveness, facilities, and internationalization, in 2016. It was also amongst the twenty institutes that were awarded the Queen's Anniversary Prize in 2014. Further, The Which University Student Survey recognised the university for its credible sports programmes in 2018.

Moreover, the university's campus was recognised as the best in the United Kingdom by the International Student Barometer in 2016. Notably, the campus is constructed on the historic site of Airthrey Estate and features state-of-the-art infrastructure. The institute includes various facilities, such as a cinema hall, theatre, bank, pharmacy, supermarket, and library (featuring over 500,000 volumes and 9,000 journals), for the convenience of students. One can dine at various restaurants, cafeterias, and bars on the campus. In addition, the on-campus accommodation includes 2, 000 rooms and townhouses. It also enables its students to experience global educational practices through its collaboration with more than 70 international universities.

Overall, the university includes around 14,000 students, which include 10,300 undergraduate and 3,700 postgraduate students. It also employs over 1,500 members of staff. Renowned organisations like FDM Group, Contract Scotland, North Cumbria NHS, and Scottish Water participate in the placement process on the campus. The university has a host of successful alumni to its credit. Some notable names include Craig Benson - a swimmer and an Olympian, Muffy Calder - former Chief Scientific Advisor to the Scottish Government (2012-15), Alison Jane Brittain - the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Whitbread, and Neil Brailsford - a Senator of the College of Justice in Scotland.
