Academic Professional Development Co-ordinator (Westminster Transitions)

Ref. 50069845

Salary £45,791 - £50,855 per annum (Incl. LWA)

Department/School Centre for Education and Teaching Innovation (CETI)

Location Central London/ Harrow

This post is full time, 35 hours per week and is fixed term until September 2026.

CETI has a University-wide role in championing learning and teaching and promoting excellence in the context of the needs of our particular students. The Centre has responsibility for a range of functions, including the coordination and delivery of courses in English for Academic purposes; coordination and core delivery of Foundation courses; promoting partnership and co-creation with students; supporting scholarship in learning and teaching; building learning communities to foster pedagogic and educational research; supporting course teams in curriculum development; and developing the professionalism, excellence and innovation of our staff in learning and teaching.

The core responsibility for this role will be to contribute to a project which is seeking to embed best practice in student transitions at the University of Westminster. This project will enhance the ways in which our undergraduate and postgraduate students experience their transitions into, through and out of the curriculum at the University. Improving these processes will positively impact on their sense of belonging, their aspirations, confidence levels and intentions to continue on their educational journey.

The project will draw together best practice from across the various functions of the University – and the sector more widely – in order to share more effectively and create consistency in our delivery. We do many good things in this context but the work is frequently disconnected and ‘siloed' and fails to maximise the good intent of a wide range of stakeholders. By developing a clear framework for transitions – and a ‘student lifecycle' that is recognized and acted upon by all stakeholders, we will be able to intervene more strategically and effectively in the student experience, ensuring that all students are supported at key stages of their journey and also that learners from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds are treated equitably.

The postholder will be supported by colleagues within CETI and across the University, in particular our Academic Professional Development Team. There will be opportunities to contribute to other aspects of CETI business, and make connections between community engaged learning and professional development opportunities.

CETI is a values-driven department with a commitment to trust, flexible working and scholarship. This is an exciting time for CETI and for the University as we seek to embed personalised, authentic and transformational learning across the institution's portfolio.
