FTE: 1.0 FTE (working 37 hours per week) and 0.6 FTE (working 22.2 hours per week)

Salary: UH4 £24,248pa pro rata to £27,181pa pro rata by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience

Annual Leave: 25 days pro rata plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: College Lane, Hatfield

The Assistant Administrator will be part of the Dean of Students Administration team ensuring customer-focused, timely and accurate processes are delivered in full compliance with university policies and procedures.

The Administration team ensure frontline/reception is covered and excellent customer focus is maintained. The role will work with Dean of Students SBU supporting the day-to-day administration tasks providing the best outcomes to students and staff within Student Wellbeing and to the wider SBU.

Main duties and responsibilities

You will work as part of a front-line team dealing with customer enquiries and information requires, carrying out all duties with a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality. You will support the management team in the administration of the department, including booking appointments and overseeing waiting lists for Student Wellbeing alerting management to immediate risk.

You will be expected to provide a high stand of customer service, dealing effectively with all customers enquires and information requests through multiple contact methods. Contact methods will include face-to-face, telephone, IT systems (e.g. email, SMS, Web) and other formats as appropriate. The Assistant Administrator will acquire a good working knowledge relating to the administration of the department, ensuring that effective administrative procedures are practiced and maintained.

Skills and experience required

Candidates should have good IT skills including the use of MSOffice and Databases and be able to collect, process and present data. You will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of customer care, including a polite, helpful and confident telephone manner and have the ability to deal with sensitive material with strict confidentiality. A can-do attitude to problem solving and the ability to work to tight deadlines, dealing with conflicting priorities and to work accurately under pressure are essential for the role.

Qualifications required

You will be Educated with a minimum of five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including Maths and English, or proven professional work experience.
