Associate Lecturer (Real Estate)

College of Business, Tech. & Engineering Academic Grade 7 - £38,205 - £42,978 per annum, dependent on experience

We are looking to expand our team with inspirational Associate Lecturers (ALs) who have a passion for delivering high quality learning experiences along with substantial real estate experience gained through teaching, relevant industry experience or both.

You will join our Business Management and People Division and will contribute to our mission to transform the lives of our students.

We'd be looking for you to have strong technical skills and an understanding of developments within the real estate sector.

You may currently be working in a relevant industry and/or have spent time working in a relevant industry and may be interested in combining this with your enthusiasm and ability to pass on your knowledge and experience by creating and delivering high quality learning, teaching and assessment.

You may be asked to teach modules to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, usually through either a lecture or tutorial format, and will also contribute to the design of some learning activities and assessments.

Dissertation supervision may also be part of your role.

Becoming an AL can be an excellent introduction to teaching in higher education. Some teaching experience would be an advantage, however you may have well developed and current knowledge and understanding of critical, practical and theoretical issues relevant from both an academic and/or professional perspective in one or more of the following:

• Real Estate

• Valuation

• Real Estate Finance

The role of the Associate Lecturer is not a full-time job so please contact us for more information on the hours available.

If you'd like to know more before you decide to apply, please feel free to give us a call.

We offer a diverse range of benefits and opportunities to pursue a rewarding and fulfilling career in a supportive environment.

You will be contractually enrolled into the Teachers' Pension Scheme (TPS) – one of the largest and most generous defined benefit pension schemes in the country. Each year you will earn a secure pension benefit of 1/57th of your salary and the University will pay pension contributions towards the cost of this pension (currently worth about 29% of your salary).

For a starting salary of £40,521, for example, the University would pay just over £11,600 in the first year of your employment and you would earn a pension of £711 p.a. for that year (payable from your State Pension Age).

Find out more about the TPS.

If you are, or have been, a recent member of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) directly prior to joining us, you can choose to opt out of the TPS and remain in the USS. Please contact the Pensions team to discuss options available.

The role is not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route so if you are an international applicant, you will need to ensure you have an appropriate visa to evidence the necessary right to work in the UK.

We welcome applications for job-share, part-time and flexible working arrangements.
