Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking telephone fundraisers to start in our fundraising team this Autumn 2024.

You will be part of an energetic and friendly team, calling Birkbeck alumni and supporters from around the world, to build and maintain a strong relationship with the College. You will inform them about our alumni engagement activities, talk about our exciting campaign priorities, and inspire them to support us by making a philanthropic gift.

  • Passionate about Birkbeck and have understanding for the need of fundraising in higher education sector
  • Highly articulate and able to convey the College's priorities
  • Friendly and tactful over the telephone with the ability to build quick rapport
  • Happy to work both weekday afternoons, evenings and weekend shifts (3 hours per shift)
  • Previous telephone experience eg call centre, office or reception function, or in fundraising but not essential.
  • Contract

    This is a part-time, 2 month fixed-term role working a minimum of 9 hours per week equating to 3 shifts per week (2 weekdays & 1 weekend required). Flexibility in choosing shifts. Shifts run on every day bar Friday & Sunday at the University's office in Bloomsbury, Euston, London. Closing date: 15 September 2024, interview date: 25 & 27 September 2024.

    All successful candidates will need to be available for day-long training on Friday 11 October.

    Salary and benefits

    £15.61 per hour (actual) for hours worked. The rate of pay is made up of £13.93 per hour, plus £1.68 per hour for accrued annual leave.

    The salary quoted is on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
