Community Liaison Manager

Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, Woodstock Road, Oxford

Applications are invited for a Community Liaison Manager working with researchers and administrators in the Cancer Theme. This is a new role and presents a unique opportunity to bridge communication and build effective partnerships between university-based academics who evaluate new technologies in early cancer detection, and members of the public who are most likely to benefit from these medical advancements.

The successful applicant will hold a degree in any subject with excellent communication and organisation skills. They will have an understanding of the factors impacting on health inequity and will be someone who enjoys engaging with different stakeholders (i.e. academics, health service delivery teams, families, patients, policy-makers, charities). They will be willing to learn about the challenges and opportunities of improving cancer detection, especially regarding how existing social inequalities influence cancer journeys and experiences.

We would especially encourage applications from those from an ethnic minority background who can act as cultural brokers, bridging and mediating relationships across different cultural groups in order to increase engagement and participation from people and groups who are under-represented in health research.

You will be based in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG as your normal place of work but will be able to agree a pattern of regular remote working with your line manager. The successful candidate will be required to travel, including overnight stays.

The position part-time (0.5FTE) and available for 12 months in the first instance.

For further information or discuss the post please contact Dr Tanvi Rai or Dr Sharon Tonner at [email protected].

“Committed to equality and valuing diversity”.

You will be required to upload a CV and Supporting Statement as part of your online application. The Supporting Statement should include a cover letter and should also clearly describe how you meet each of the selection criteria listed in the job description. The closing date for applications is 12:00 noon on Friday 4 October 2024.

Interviews are expected to be held during the week commencing 28 October 2024.
