£39,347 rising annually to £42,978 (pro rata for 0.8fte) Full Time, Permanent - Professional Ser

Oxford Brookes University are seeking to appoint an electron microscopy specialist responsible for our electron microscopes and associated equipment within the Oxford Brookes Centre for Bioimaging.

This highly successful microscopy centre is well funded and supports a wide range of biologists including mammalian cells, plants, parasites, virus work and others. We are a UK node partner in the Eurobioimaging network.

Main responsibilities will be to provide training and support to scientists, ensuring the smooth running of the microscopes, assistance with data collection and analysis and for the ongoing development of the facility's scientific capability.

The successful candidate with work alongside the light microscopy specialist to run our Centre and this will include running seminars, some undergraduate teaching and working with our media centre to promote the microscopy centre and our science.

We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral biologist with experience in chemical fixation of biological material and ultramicrotomy. The main microscopes are a JEOL 1400 TEM and a Zeiss Merlin SEM with serial block face capability. We are seeking someone with a keen interest in microscopy to join our busy and successful Centre.
