UCC Library is looking for an exceptional Learning & Teaching Assistant Librarian to join our team and deliver exceptional services to support learning and teaching within the University. The ideal candidate will be proactive and innovative, maintaining and developing the reputation UCC Library currently holds for exceptional student success. This is an amazing opportunity for the right person to join UCC Library during a time of exciting change.

The Learning & Teaching Librarian will work as part of a team to curate, design, deliver, coordinate and assess a range of learning activities and supports for the development of digital, information, media and new literacies throughout the entire university. The Learning & Teaching Librarian will adopt innovative, effective pedagogical approaches, both in-person and online, to deliver an excellent teaching and learning experience. As part of the wider Learning & Teaching Team, the Learning & Teaching Librarian will lead on efforts to demonstrate the impact of library services in teaching and learning excellence. They will also actively explore teaching and learning opportunities connected with existing, new and evolving library spaces and technologies.

How will you contribute to our Team?

You will:

  • Develop and deliver innovative classroom-based and online teaching sessions, tutorials and workshops to enhance students' skills and support their learning within the University.

  • Deliver effective learning support consultations with learners as part of a collaborative team-based service offering.

  • Contribute towards the development and delivery of a significant new service aimed at supporting academic colleagues in curriculum and assessment design and student skills development.

  • Contribute to a positive workplace culture and build collaborative relationships and exceptional communication to deliver and enhance library programmes.

    The University's Library is at the heart of the University and plays a pivotal role in supporting the learning and research activities of University College Cork community. UCC Library comprises a distinct unit that resides under the Vice-President for Teaching & Learning. Library staff work in partnership with the University community to provide access to high quality information resources, tailored programs of student and researcher support, and a first- class learning environment.

    The Library has entered an exciting period of transformation with the development of a new library vision and plan that will support the UCC Strategic Plan 2023-2028 ‘Securing our Future' and the broader University aspirations.

    Appointment may be made on the Admin V (Grade 5) Salary Scale: €49,299- € 60,476 (Scale B) / € 47,084- €57,562 (Scale A)

    Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
