This role sits within the Estates Services Division where the Management Accounting Team plays a vital role in supporting the strategic direction of Estates Services, ensuring that financial decisions are smart, sustainable, and aligned with the University's goals. What You'll Do:

As a Management Accountant with Estates Services, you'll be more than just a number cruncher—you'll be a strategic partner helping our teams make informed financial decisions. You'll manage diverse portfolios, analyse financial performance, and provide insights that support everything from historic buildings to cutting-edge facilities.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • A Finance Partner : Collaborate with budget holders to guide them through financial planning, budget management, and forecasting.
  • Translate Data into Strategy : Prepare and present monthly management accounts, breaking down complex financial data into actionable insights.
  • Ensure Financial Integrity : Oversee reconciliations, accruals, and year-end adjustments, ensuring everything aligns with our financial principles.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement : Lead projects to enhance our financial systems and processes, making them more efficient and effective.
  • Influence Key Decisions : Provide strategic financial analysis and advice to internal committees and senior leadership, shaping the future of Estates Services.

  • Progressing towards or hold a recognized accounting qualification (e.g., CIMA, ACCA) or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical skills : You can dig into data, find patterns, and turn them into meaningful insights. You are skilled in using financial and reporting systems.
  • Great communicator : You can translate complex financial information into clear, concise messages for different audiences.
  • Team player and leader : You're collaborative, proactive, and ready to take the initiative. You also have experience leading team members to achieve goals.
  • Strong planning and monitoring abilities: Skilled in financial planning and budgetary control mechanisms.
  • Desirable:

  • Experience in financial modelling, strategic finance, or project-based accounting.
  • Experience working in a large, diverse organization with complex management accounting functions.
