Position Summary

Applications are invited for the role of Post-Doctoral Researcher at the School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology.

A Post-Doctoral Researcher position is available to investigate how spatio- temporal signalling distinguishes the actions of similar tyrosine kinase receptors (Insulin and Insulin-like Growth Factor receptors) and decipher why the IGF-1 receptor inhibitors are effective in the inflammatory disorder Thyroid Eye Disease, but not in cancer. The project is part of a Science Foundation Ireland/Research Ireland-funded Frontiers for the Future award programme. See https:// publish.ucc.ie/researchprofiles/D003/roconnor

We are seeking highly motivated candidates with a PhD and demonstrated research achievement, who will be supported to pursue their research interests and careers in either academia or other Industry. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of international researchers in Cork, and will also interact with collaborators in the USA, Europe and Japan. The research will deploy innovative approaches including “in cell” proteomics and imaging, genetic and molecular cell biology approaches, including CRISPR-based cell and mouse models, protein structure-function analyses, and cell phenotype studies.

The School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology provides a supportive research and career development environment and University College Cork also offers a suite of career development initiatives through the postdoc hub and the human resources department.
