About the role

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Experimental Physical Chemistry of Electrolytes to work under the supervision of Professor Susan Perkin on the ERC-funded project ELECTROLYTE, to start in January 2024. This is a fixed term position for up to 18 months.

About you

This role involves experimental measurements and theoretical analysis of the physical properties of electrolytes and their interfaces. Techniques are likely to include surface force measurements, calorimetry, and light scattering. The role also includes lab management, maintenance of apparatus, supervision of students, drafting manuscripts and taking a leadership role for some research themes within the project. The role is likely to appeal to candidates with strong experimental aptitude combined with excellent theoretical ability in the field of liquid state physics or physical chemistry. Applicants should have a PhD (or be close to completion) in Physics, Chemistry or a related subject prior to taking up your appointment. The research requires experience in a relevant field and the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate competence and success in the thesis research area. You should also be able to demonstrate an ability to work as part of a team in a laboratory environment, and to take responsibility for managing your own day-to-day research activities.

The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, Physical &Theoretical Chemistry Laboratory, South Parks Road, Oxford.
