This new part-time (0.75 FTE) post is available from 1 October 2024 until 30 May 2025 on a fixed term basis.

The post

The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the work of Prof Jennifer Littlechild. This EU funded post is available from the 1st October 2024 until the 30th May 2025.

The main objective of this task in the RADICALZ project is to investigate the stability of enzymes of industrial interest in the presence and absence of additives such as surfactants and other osmolytes. This will be investigated with enzymes that come from both mesophilic and thermophilic microbial organisms. The proteins will be over-expressed in Escherichia coli and purified. They will be biochemically characterised using activity assays, thermal shift measurements, circular dichroism, and using microfluidic techniques.

About you

The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will be able to . Applicants will need experience in protein purification, biochemical characterisation, kinetic analysis, protein structure determination, protein mutagenesis and bioinformatics.
