Curtin University is seeking an Academic Leader with a passion for Environmental Health, Occupational Health or Climate Change to join our esteemed School of Population Health. This is a significant role for an innovative leader who is ready to make substantial contributions to our national and international teaching and research agenda. As an Associate Professor or Professor, you will spearhead ground-breaking research, provide strategic leadership, innovative teaching, and inspire the next generation of Academics.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Research This role provides leadership and fosters excellence in teaching and research, the balance of these two activities being variable.

Inspire Excellence : Create a nurturing and dynamic learning environment, delivering high-quality teaching and engaging in influential research in Environmental Health, Occupational Health, or Climate Change.

Innovate & Implement: Craft and execute forward-thinking teaching strategies and curricula that address emerging issues in these fields. Lead impactful pedagogical and research initiatives.

Engage & Support: Stay at the forefront of scholarly development and guide honours and postgraduate students through their research journeys with empathy and expertise.

Lead & Influence: Direct research teams and major funding initiatives, contributing to global conversations and shaping policy through your research.

Global Impact : Elevate international recognition through presentations, publications, and editorial contributions, and drive advancements in Environmental Health, Occupational Health, or Climate Change.

Leadership & Service

Discipline Leadership : Embrace the role of Discipline Lead in Environmental Health, setting strategic directions and fostering growth.

Mentorship & Guidance: Offer mentorship and support to academic staff and students, focusing on research and Higher Degree by Research (HDR) supervision.

Professional Networking : Build and enhance connections with universities, industry partners, government agencies, and professional organisations.

About You

The successful candidate will have an established track record of research and leadership in one of the following fields (or a closely related field).

Health Impacts of Climate Change

Emerging Environmental Health Challenges

Environmental Health Toxicology / Epidemiology / Exposure Science

Occupational Hygiene/Toxicology

Selection Criteria

Doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline.

Demonstrated leadership experience in academia and community engagement.

Proven ability to develop and deliver high-quality educational courses in your field.

A commitment to excellence in teaching, with a record of achievement.

Established and productive research output, with publications in high- quality refereed journals or other recognised outlets.

Experience in securing research funding, including competitive grants and fellowships.

Extensive experience in supervising HDR students and mentoring academic staff.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster a collegial and supportive environment and interact effectively with a diverse range of students and staff.
