Applications are invited for a Research Associate position at the Bath Institute for Digital Security and Behaviour ( https: // www. idsb.ac.uk ).

About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work within an interdisciplinary team at the University of Bath. In this role, you will support academics from multiple disciplines at the University in designing and conducting research studies that contribute towards our understanding of digital security and behaviour. This means you will have the opportunity to work with distinguished scholars throughout our academic community at Bath and develop your skills in a variety of disciplines.

In this role, you will contribute to developing new funding bids, as well as supporting existing funded projects. You will provide technical research support, and synthesise and disseminate outputs from relevant work as part of a wider programme of research for use by policymakers and regulators.

There is also an expectation that you will actively contribute to the strong profile of online behaviour and cyber security research at Bath and its interdisciplinary ethos through participation in the development and publication of research in major international conferences and journals.

About the Bath Institute for Digital Security and Behaviour:

The Institute for Digital Security and Behaviour (IDSB) is a newly established research institute at the University of Bath. We are based in the School of Management (10E) but the research group is distributed across multiple faculties, in Psychology, Politics, Languages and International Studies (PoLIS), Computer Science and the School of Management. We have a large, shared office, exciting facilities and equipment, and a growing and friendly team of professional and research staff and PGRs.

The IDSB aims to address global security challenges through world-leading, interdisciplinary, socio-technical research that co-creates inclusive security solutions by adopting a “whole of society” approach. We recognise the central role of human behaviour in security threats, and therefore place understanding people, groups, and organisations at the heart of digital security.

We provide support to business and industry partners, as well as research teams, and will help make the UK a more innovative, secure, and resilient digital society, developing the next generation of experts, and advancing the UK as a global leader in digital security and behaviour.

About you:

The postholder must have a PhD in Computer Science / Cybersecurity, Psychology or Behavioural Science, Data Science / AI, Management Science, Computational Social Science, or related discipline.

The ideal applicant will also be familiar with a variety of programming/scripting languages and be comfortable working with large data sets. You will also be expected to provide technical and research design support for users of the Behavioural Research Lab within the Institute.

This role is currently offered on a full time basis, fixed term until 31st July 2027 but with potential for longer term.
