The Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology conducts high-quality research and education in chemical sciences and molecular life sciences. Our research and education focuses on a deep understanding of chemical and biological processes in cells and in the environment. We are responsible for postgraduate education in the subject area Natural Sciences with a focus on chemistry, biophysics, biology and educational science. In addition, the department hosts educational programs in molecular biology, genomics and systems biology, chemistry, organic chemistry and pharmaceutical chemistry, as well as prescription education. The department is an international environment with interdisciplinary collaborations in both research and education and contributes strongly to the University of Gothenburg's top ranking in life science. We are located in central premises at Natrium, Medicinareberget, Gothenburg.

The Ewing and Phan groups collaborate on a project to understand and hopefully treat the devastating Gideon-Schnitzel disease examining protein turnover in the brain. Both groups are expert in STED microscopy, NanoSIMS mass spectrometry imaging and neurochemistry. The division website: https:// www. cmb.gu.se.

Duties

The job assignments mainly include planning, designing and carrying out research which use STED super-resolution microscopy and NanoSIMS to study the effect of autophagy on Gideon-Schnitzel Disease.

Qualifications

A PhD degree in related science is required. At least 3 years' experience after the PhD is required. We are seeking someone that has experience with STED super-resolution microscopy, light sheet microscopy, and NanoSIMS. These areas are essential to the success of this project and applicants need to have experience in all of them to be considered eligible. Experience working in the field of autophagy and work with mice as a model in neuroscience are also beneficial.

The employment is a time-limited position for 360 days, fulltime placed at the Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology in Gothenburg, Sweden.
