  • About the Role This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated Student Experience Officer to join a fun and imaginative team within the Academic Support Office (ASO) supporting students within the Faculty of Fine Arts & Music. The role is perfect for someone with a growth mindset who is confident and adept at building relationships in complex settings. You will be adaptable and agile in your approach to work and flexible in response to work demands.

    Working with a high degree of independence, you will be responsible for planning and running a variety of student events and projects, with a primary focus on the Faculty's Orientation program and the Secondbite/Fare Share Food Relief program at Southbank. You will run all aspects from start to finish, including managing student-facing communications, budgeting, coordinating newsletters, special projects, as well as assisting with Work Integrated Learning (WIL).

    This role offers a great development opportunity, allowing you to gain experience across strategy, student administration, engagement, client service, governance, and special projects. You will work closely with the Senior Student Experience Officer, the Student Experience Coordinator, and a wide range of stakeholders, from facilities staff to academic teams.

    Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as are strong administrative, data management, and interpersonal skills.

    Please note, this role involves manual handling and lifting (up to 10kg) and, on occasions, working in external environments, and occasional work outside of the standard working hours.

    Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contribute to the delivery of Student Experience programs under the direction of the Student Experience Coordinator
  • Develop and deliver student communications including the Student Newsletter, Orientation communications and event promotions.
  • Coordinate the Secondbite/Fare Share Food Relief program at Southbank, including stock handling and management, coordination and training of volunteers to manage weekly distribution, and set up and pack down.
  • Support the delivery of student events, such as Employability Week and the Faculty's Orientation events. This includes event design, stakeholder engagement, communications and event support, budget preparation, tracking, acquitting, and record-keeping.
  • Work with Student Experience team members on supporting international and domestic student travel programs and liaise with academic staff members, as appropriate.
  • Who We Are Looking For The role requires someone who can manage multiple projects, connect moving parts and people, and thrive in a cross-team environment. Your ability to work closely and flexibly within the team while bringing your unique personality to the role will be crucial to your success.

    You will also have:

  • A degree or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Experience in event delivery and support.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an adaptable team member under minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to positively collaborate with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Technical proficiency in working with data and reporting tools.
