About the Role

Mount Royal University is seeking a skilled Windows/VMware Server Analyst to join our Information Technology Services team. This is a one-year term position with the potential to transition into a permanent role.

As a key member of the ITS Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration and maintenance of our Windows servers and VMware environment. You will ensure optimal performance, security, and availability of these critical systems. You will also play a vital role in project work, contributing your expertise to initiatives that enhance and evolve our server infrastructure.

● This position may require occasional after-hours or on-call support. ● A successful candidate will be required to undergo a criminal record check.

Responsibilities

● Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server operating systems and related software. ● Monitor and optimize server performance, proactively addressing any issues. ● Implement security patches and updates to safeguard systems. ● Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control. ● Deploy, configure, and manage virtual machines within the VMware environment. ● Monitor and optimize virtual machine performance, resource utilization and high availability ● Participate in the planning, design, and implementation of Windows server and VMware infrastructure projects. ● Develop and maintain technical documentation. ● Collaborate effectively with other IT teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

● Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. ● Minimum 3 years of experience administering Windows Server environments. ● Minimum 2 years of experience working with VMware vSphere or a similar virtualization platform. ● Minimum 2 years of experience administering Active Directory. ● Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols. ● Solid understanding of enterprise storage concepts and protocols. ● Experience with scripting or automation tools (e.g., PowerShell) is an asset. ● Experience with other operating systems (e.g., Linux) is an asset. ● Experience with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) is an asset. ● Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. ● Strong written and verbal communication skills. ● Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines. ● Collaborative team player with a positive attitude.

● Eagerness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing priorities.

Salary: $82,916 - $104,856 per annum
