Fifty-four NYU alumni and faculty received 70 nominations for the 77th annual Tony Awards, honoring the best of Broadway. Nominees included the playwright of Stereophonic, the writer and composer of Suffs, and the writer of Hell’s Kitchen, three of the most recognized productions. Several designers were nominated for multiple shows.
NYU community members were nominated in 16 categories that span performances, lighting, scenic and costume design, composition and orchestration. A production must have opened between April 28, 2023 and April 25, 2024 to be eligible for the awards.
The awards ceremony will be held on June 16 at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater. The complete list of nominations is available here.
