Duties and Responsibilities: This position assists the Lead Hand in the development of work schedules, absence coverage, and scheduling spring-cleaning. Responsibilities include providing on-the-job guidance to team members ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in consultation with the Lead Hand, participating in planning sessions for upcoming events, offers guidance on campus cleaning strategies, and reviews and updates log sheets.

Additional duties may include responding to emergency situations and trouble calls as instructed by the Lead Hand or Director, and communicating with management and clients when services may be interrupted as work is being done and upon completion. The role also is expected to use FAMIS 360 to create, assign and complete tasks as well as prepare estimates of time and materials for projects as requested. Other duties include all aspects of cleaning maintenance including but not limited to: cleaning; dusting; vacuuming; washing surfaces; scrubbing and disinfecting toilets, mirrors and windows; emptying trash; transporting debris to disposal sites inside and outside campus buildings; changing bed linens in residences; move, assemble, disassemble and reassemble furniture to allow for thorough cleaning; snow and ice removal from entrances, sidewalks, landings, stairs and ramps; and other relevant duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience: The preferred candidate must meet the following qualifications: a minimum Grade 12 or GED with five (5) years' experience in institutional cleaning and groundskeeping, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The candidate must be physically capable of completing a “Physical Demands Assessment” and performing all job-related tasks. A valid Class 5 driver's license is required, and the preferred candidate should demonstrate competency using motorized and power equipment and possess, or be willing to obtain within six (6) months, certification for BU required equipment (e.g. skid steer, forklift, elevated platform training); knowledge of the FAMIS 360 work order system; communicate professionally and effectively with co-workers, Lead Hand, supervisors, as well as internal customers on campus; and be able to work collaboratively with others and contribute positively to the team, along with working independently.

NOTE

This position is open to current internal IUOE (D) candidates only. Skill based testing may be required. Shifts will be scheduled for Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. Schedule is subject to change based on operational need. This position is subject to a Child Abuse Registry Check and Criminal Record Check. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred.
