Accommodation Resource and Contracts Officer
Description
Are you a well organised administrator with experience of using a finance system? Would you enjoy a varied role supporting students at the University?
Accommodation Services are seeking a flexible administrator to be responsible for the financial elements of the service. The University provides accommodation both on the Plymouth campus and for placement students in Taunton and Treliske and this post supports managers in the administration of contracts related to this. Occasional visits to these locations may be required.
The ideal candidate will be able to answer queries from customers both internal and external, enjoy improving processes and have excellent attention to detail. There will be a requirement to work within the financial regulations of the University, so experience of using a finance system is desirable but not essential. We work closely with our Accommodation service providers to ensure that rent payments, utilities and other financial transactions relating to contracts are checked and completed in a timely way. This will include contributing to financial reports and monitoring agreed budgets, alerting service managers to any anomalies.
Although the focus of the role is on the financial tasks which underpin the student experience, you would be part of the student's journey from providing guidance at Open Days, through to finalising rent accounts and charges at the end of the Academic year. There will be opportunities to work with students assisting with enquiries and offering appointments to those who wish to discuss payment plans so an ability to deal with people face to face and communicate clearly is required.
There is no requirement to have previous experience in the higher education sector, as you will have an opportunity to develop an understanding of the University. Alongside the team you will contribute to key events in the calendar including student arrivals and clearing each year. At these times, all members of the team work together undertaking tasks that may fall outside their regular area of responsibility and for short periods this includes some rota and weekend work which the whole team are involved in.
There is an essential requirement within this role that you will be required to travel to and work at different University sites and/or other business locations that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Please refer to the job description for further information.
Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications, training and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement.
For an informal discussion to find out more about the role then please contact Lucy Finch by email at [email protected].
Interviews are likely to take place week commencing Monday 7th October 2024 and you will be notified if you have been shortlisted or not.
This is a full-time, permanent position, working 37 hours a week.
We regret that there is no opportunity to work from home in this position.
We offer a competitive salary package and a generous pension and holiday scheme. We also offer a range of other benefits/support mechanisms, including ongoing development opportunities, flexible working, staff networks and enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave.
A summary of our comprehensive benefits can be viewed here.
A successful external candidate for this position would be employed by the University of Plymouth Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Plymouth. Employees of the University of Plymouth Services Limited work alongside the University of Plymouth colleagues in delivery of Plymouth's strategic vision, and will adopt the University of Plymouth's HR policies and procedures in full unless otherwise stated.
