    As the Animal Ethics Administration Officer , you will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with national and state regulatory frameworks while providing expert advice and administrative support to UQ's Animal Ethics Committees (AECs). You'll work closely with researchers, committee members, and stakeholders to facilitate the ethical review process, manage critical reporting requirements, and support the responsible use of animals for scientific purposes.

    Key responsibilities will include :
  • Provide administrative and advisory support to UQ's Animal Ethics Committees (AECs), including preparing agendas and minutes, and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.

  • Assist researchers and stakeholders by interpreting and communicating UQ policies, procedures, and national/state legislative frameworks related to animal ethics.

  • Manage and maintain accurate records of AEC business using UQ information management systems, ensuring data integrity and compliance with reporting requirements.

  • Strong understanding of administrative processes, with experience managing records in a high-volume environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret and convey complex policies, procedures, and legislative requirements to a diverse range of stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and database management systems, with the ability to generate reports and maintain accurate records.

  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Strong interpersonal and client service skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to engage effectively with researchers, committee members, and regulatory bodies.

  • The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre- employment checks, including right to work in Australia and a criminal check.
