Administrative Assistant I/II in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Ref.: 530269) to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a good university degree with at least 5 years' work experience in the higher education sector or of a related field at supervisory level. They should have excellent communication skills with an exceptional command of English and Chinese; possess a strong sense of responsibility and strategic awareness; be capable of working proficiently with significant independence; and be able to keep their subordinates motivated to deliver quality work under tight deadlines. They are also expected to possess a high level of decision-making, organisational, time-management and problem-solving skills.

The appointee will play a versatile role in leading junior executive and clerical staff in supporting a wide range of tasks on or above operational level, such as human resources, finance, research and academic programmes administration. He/She will provide a high level of administrative support to one or more functions of the Department: central administration (e.g. human resources and finance), teaching and learning, and/or external relations/ knowledge exchange. He/She has to develop effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels, be familiar with University procedures and policies, and provide secretarial support to various committees. The appointee will also be required to liaise with internal and external stakeholders, assist in the development and implementation of strategic plans and policies, and perform other duties as assigned. Those with less experience may be considered for appointment as AA II. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and interview.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointments will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary for AA I and 10% of basic salary for AA II.
