At the University of York, there is a prominent strand of research which focuses on social security and poverty, and foregrounds everyday experiences of life on a low-income. This research is collaborative in approach; and creates wide ranging opportunities for impact through direct work with policymakers and the media. Key projects include Changing Realities, Safety Nets, and Family Finances; with projects working across institutions and with colleagues from outside academia (i.e. Child Poverty Action Group and Resolution Foundation). All of these projects are overseen by Professor Ruth Patrtick, who is based within the School for Business and Society, an interdisciplinary school.
RoleWe are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and proactive administrator with excellent interpersonal and communications skills to support the projects that Ruth Patrick leads. This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy and pro-active team, and to be part of seeking to build real and lasting impact through research.
To provide operational administrative support across a range of research projects, all of which have a broad focus on social security and poverty. Working under the line management of the Administration Manager, the role holder will provide a responsive, proactive and high-quality administrative service to support busy research projects.

This role is available on a part time basis (22.20 hours per week, 0.6 FTE) and with fixed term funding until 30 June 2026.
