  • About the Role

    With a direct reporting line to the Manager: Philanthropic Programs, you will be a key link between the University's Academic Units, researchers, and external philanthropic granting bodies including charitable foundations, private and public ancillary funds, industry partners, and government and non- government funders.

    You will provide advice and support to academic colleagues through the grant application, assessment and submission phases of philanthropic funding opportunities, both pre- and post-award. You will apply high level research, analytical and editing skills to the discovery, review and submission of relevant project proposals that attract and secure funds to support research, scholarships, equipment purchases, and other projects aligned with the University's strategic objectives.

    About the Advancement Unit

    The Advancement Unit's function is the strategic management of relationships to increase understanding and support among key University constituents. This includes alumni and friends of the University, members of the community and philanthropic organisations of all types. The unit aims to secure financial support from donors who wish to contribute to the achievement of the University of South Australia's visions and values; engage alumni in the life of the University as volunteers, advocates, supporters and donors; and manage relationships with current and potential supporters of the University.

    Essential Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications or relevant experience in grant application support or grant writing, information management, information science, communications or disciplines relevant to the position
  • Understanding of and previous experience in a fundraising or grant application context and of related structures and processes in a research- oriented field
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and analysing information and issues to support the development of practical solutions and making recommendations for effective outcomes and implementation of research/grant/philanthropic projects and programs
  • Familiarity with privacy laws and other relevant State and national legislation and protocols and the ability to maintain appropriate degrees of confidence and diplomacy
