About the Role Join the School of Historical and Philosophical Studies as an Assistant Lecturer in Chinese History, where you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality education while our permanent staff undertake full-time research on an ARC project. This fixed-term position is an exciting opportunity to shape the learning experience in our History discipline, with a focus on Chinese history and the Cold War in Asia.
You will primarily coordinate and teach core undergraduate subjects within our history major, including ‘HIST20086 China in Global History since 1945' and ‘HIST30066 Cold War Cultures in Asia,' while also contributing to courses in Asian and World history. Working closely with the Discipline Chair and a dedicated team of colleagues, you will deliver engaging lectures, facilitate in-depth discussions, and inspire students to critically explore the complexities of historical narratives.
The incumbent may also supervise 4th-year honours students and contribute to the general teaching and administrative activities of the discipline.

Your New Team – The School of Historical and Philosophical Studies (SHAPS) The School of Historical and Philosophical Studies (SHAPS) is a part of the Faculty of Arts and comprises of History, Philosophy, History and Philosophy of Science, Classics and Archaeology, The Grimwade Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation and The Program in Jewish Culture & Society. SHAPS offers a wide range of classes in these disciplines and has an Honours, Masters by Coursework and postgraduate student cohort. This position resides in the Grimwade Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation and report to the Discipline Chair.
