About the Faculty of Business, Communication Studies and AviationThe Faculty of Business, Communications Studies, and Aviation has a student body of approximately 3,899 students and is composed of the Bissett School of Business, the School of Communication Studies, and the Aviation program with a Flight School. The School of Business hosts four departments: General Management & Human resources, Accounting & Finance, International Business & Supply Chain Management, and Entrepreneurship, Marketing & Social Innovation. The School of Communication Studies consists of four majors: Journalism and Digital Media, Broadcast Media Studies, Information Design, and Public Relations.
The Bissett School of Business is an accredited member of EFMD, a global, non- profit, membership-driven organization dedicated to management development.
About the Department of Accounting and FinanceThe Department of Accounting and Finance offers Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degrees in both Accounting and Finance. The BBA – Accounting major prepares students for careers as professional accountants in public practice, corporate enterprises and public institutions. Students completing the BBA – Accounting major are prepared for direct entry to the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Professional Education Program (PEP). The BBA – Accounting program also includes an Honours Program and a Co-operative Education option.
About the RoleThe Department of Accounting and Finance in the Bissett School of Business at MRU invites applications for a position in Accounting at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The position will commence on July 01, 2025. The selected individual will be appointed into the Teaching-Scholarship-Service (TSS) work pattern. The TSS work pattern focuses on teaching (the equivalent of six (6) three-hour classes per academic year), conducting scholarly research, and providing academic service at the Department, Faculty and University levels. The selected candidate is expected to teach undergraduate accounting courses at various levels. The research agenda may include, but is not limited to, the following areas: discipline-specific emerging issues, scholarship of teaching and learning, scholarly investigation of pedagogies in accounting education, and community-engaged research.
The successful candidate will become an integral member of our Accounting team and contribute meaningfully to departmental priorities and activities. As MRU considers developing industry connections a critical part of our programs, the selected candidate may be required to actively liaise with industry partners and professional associations on behalf of the Department and the Bissett School of Business.
