We are seeking an experienced Associate Professor in the school of Human & Social Sciences taught portfolio, student experience, and graduate outcomes. The role involves developing and implementing strategies for course and module improvement, revalidation, and professional accreditations. You will oversee quality management, promote high achievement, and ensure compliance with University policies.

Key responsibilities include leading research-informed teaching, cross- disciplinary initiatives, and enhancing employability and career progression for students. You will foster industry links, secure external funding, and contribute to policy development at regional and national levels.

As an Associate Professor, you will represent the School in internal committees, manage strategic initiatives, and ensure effective curriculum delivery. Strong leadership, innovative teaching, and a commitment to inclusive practices are essential.

    Responsible for: Leading school quality enhancement across all KPIs

    Job Purpose:

  • Develop and lead excellence in research-led teaching within the school by strengthening links between our subject-based research and teaching contributing to strong student outcomes and commercial success
  • To act as the main point of contact in relation to educational matters within the School and provide oversight of the operation and delivery of education in the School
  • Lead the design and delivery of high-quality research, fulfilling the University's mission in research
  • Provide operational leadership at School level to ensure the School's educational offerings are distinctive, innovative, high quality and internationally competitive
  • Practice an inclusive approach and support building an inclusive university community where people can be themselves.
  • Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role:

    Research and Knowledge Exchange:

  • Conduct substantial and effective research and scholarly activity, generate and secure income, including as principal investigator, and align own research with teaching and learning to produce excelled student outcomes.
  • Collaborate and engage with relevant business and professional networks to promote teaching and learning and research in a professional context.
  • Engage in effective doctoral supervision and develop early career research.
  • Make significant and substantial contributions to knowledge through refereed conference outputs and peer-reviewed (non-conference) outputs.
  • Embed research within teaching and curriculum to significantly contribute to research impact and excellent student outcomes.

  • Lead the delivery of research-informed teaching in the school.
  • Develop and manage strategies to enhance the School's taught portfolio, student experience, and graduate outcomes.
  • Lead the academic vision for student experience, overseeing course amendments/approvals, revalidations, and professional accreditations.
  • Significantly contribute to the development and leadership of an inclusive teaching and learning culture and ensuring delivery of excellent student experience and outcomes.
  • Make substantial contributions to research informed innovative pedagogy, curriculum and programme planning, design, and development including use of innovative digital technology to enhance learning.
  • Lead in the delivery of successful and impactful tutoring and pastoral support to students including the support of placements and internships.
  • Regularly engage with professional bodies, employers and other organisations to significantly enhance professional practice and student outcomes.
  • Provide effective feedback, support and guidance to students, which promotes improvement of performance and enhances student outcomes.
