About us
Curtin's School of Accounting, Economics and Finance seeks to enhance its
capacity in teaching, research and leadership in Accounting by appointing two
Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer in Accounting (Teaching and Research) on
a full-time, continuing basis.
Our Accounting courses are continuously refined to ensure they remain
relevant, offering students a stimulating and intellectually rigorous
educational experience. The School is committed to fostering integrious and
respectful academic collegiality and teamwork, aiming to produce impactful
research in Accounting and advancing innovative teaching practices. The
successful applicant will play an important leadership role in achieving that
vision.
The Role of Associate Professor:
Some Key Responsibilities of the Role of Associate Professor
Provide effective leadership in the discipline of Accounting commensurate
with the role.
Deliver high-quality and innovative teaching to undergraduate and
postgraduate students across various modes and levels.
Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing reflective improvement in teaching and
promote the same in others.
Conduct tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student
field excursions, clinical sessions and/or studio sessions, as
appropriate, which stimulate and foster student learning.
Undertake internationally competitive and high-quality research in
Accounting.
Publish in high-quality refereed journals/outlets in a manner consistent
with the expectations of the discipline of Accounting.
Actively seek and act as co or chief investigator in applications for
competitive research grants and/or industry grants.
Play a significant role in research projects, including, where
appropriate, leadership of a research team/projects.
Significantly contribute to external activities relevant to the Accounting
discipline/profession and community engagement.
Essential Criteria for the Role of Associate Professor
A doctoral qualification in Accounting.
A demonstrated record of academic leadership roles and experience at the national or international level within universities.
Significant experience and a proven track record of mentoring colleagues, including early career researchers.
An established record of productive research outputs with regular publication in high-quality refereed academic journals consistent with an international reputation in the field.
A significant record of obtaining external research income, including nationally competitive research grants and/or industry grants.
Experience and record of providing supervision to higher-degree research students.
A demonstrated record of achievement in and commitment to excellence in teaching.
Demonstrated achievement in the discipline through the scholarly development and delivery of high-quality educational courses.
Demonstrated high-level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster the development of a collegial and supportive working environment with integrity and respect and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross-cultural sensitivity.
Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.

Evidence of an established national reputation, growing international profile, and a record of obtaining research income, including nationally competitive research grants and/or industry grants.
Proven high-level teaching skills with a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching.
A significant contribution to scholarship in teaching and experience in curriculum development and unit/course coordination.
Demonstrated ability to lead major curriculum and/or research initiatives, provide mentoring to less experienced staff and supervise higher-degree research students.
Demonstrated high-level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster the development of a collegial and supportive working environment with integrity and respect and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross-cultural sensitivity.
Demonstrated commitment to applying Curtin's values, relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
