Objective:The principal objective of the post is to participate in the development, direction, teaching, facilitation and examinations of the graduate entry and direct entry medicine teaching programmes.

Contract:This appointment is available for a period of one year initially, renewable to a maximum of two further years subject to satisfactory performance.
Salary: €45,000 - 55,000 per annum (level is dependent on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate)
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: • Contributing to the clinical teaching programme in the junior,intermediate and senior cycle of the four and five year teaching programmes
• Contributing to the assessment of students in the junior, intermediateand senior cycles of the four and five year programmes. This includes development, delivery and evaluation of these activities
• Liaising with heads of department, project leaders for clinicalcompetence and other relevant faculty members in planning, delivering and evaluating teaching programmes
• Providing resources and communication with student groups via the RCSIvirtual learning environment
• Delivering the curriculum at a number of sites e.g. assigned hospitals,RCSI Campus St Stephens Green, RCSI Sandyford Institute of Leadership & Healthcare Management
Other responsibilities include: • Conducting Research; Outcomes to be defined with relevant head ofdepartment
• Performing Clinical Work on-site in Connolly Hospital in RespiratoryMedicine Department; Detail and commitment to be defined with head of department
• Ensuring that all Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland policies andprocedures are adhered to
• Complying with statutory legislation and Department rules andrequirements in furtherance of your own and general staff welfare and safety
• Representing the best interests of the Department/RCSI at all times • Performing such other duties as may be required from time to time Candidate Specification: EssentialThe successful candidate should:
• Possess evidence of registration with the Irish Medical Council • Possess a keen interest in lecturing and interacting with undergraduatestudents
• Possess excellent communication skills DesirableIt would be advantageous if the successful candidate had:
• Previous clinical experience in Respiratory Medicine • Previous experience using E-learning/VLE systems • Previous experience of teaching and assessing students in an academicenvironment
