The Opportunity
The Delivery Manager is responsible for the development of digital solutions,
systems and services, delivering value to the business area they support, and
to staff and students of the University. They will manage a team of software
developers, directing activities within the portfolio of digital initiatives
and coordinating these alongside continual service improvements and service
maintenance tasks.
Major Duties:
To manage a team of technical specialists, to deliver solutions and
services for the University, primarily within your business area, but
occasionally in cross-cutting initiatives.
Working with colleagues in the Design team, deliver and document detailed
technical product design specifications for software developments
implementations.
Manage a team that will develop and implement solutions and appropriate
documentation using an agile product-based approach to development,
delivering on agreed goals, proactively addressing impediments, risks, and
blockers, while communicating and escalating when necessary.
Manage the continuous delivery of Software and services, prioritising work
within the business area and the overall portfolio, working within set
budgets and resource allocations.
Required experience, skills & abilities :
Certification / Qualification in Project or Programme Management Methodology and Agile Methodologies (Prince2, MSP, Scrum Master, AgilePM etc.) (Desirable)
Proven experience of establishing a high performing team, with the ability to lead, collegiately manage, motivate and coach a team, delegating as appropriate. (Essential)
Significant experience of managing competing priorities and managing customer expectations, balancing the work of the team to ensure effective delivery of service improvements alongside new initiatives (Essential)
Experience of using planning and organisational management tools, and of aligning the work of the team according to the current capacity (Essential)
Experience of leading the development, and successful implementation, of highly responsive customer-centric IT services, with the ability to apply architectural principles and work within design frameworks (Essential)
Experience of supporting new services and developments, identifying and fixing issues as they are transitioned into delivery / operations (Essential)
Technical knowledge appropriate to the area being supported including application development (Essential)
Experience of negotiating and influencing staff across an IT organisation in order to effect change (Essential)
Strong analytical skills with a logical approach to problem identification and resolution (Essential)
Ability to establish positive working relationships that enable effective collaboration with staff across ISS (Essential)
Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with high emotional intelligence enabling good working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels of the organisation (Essential)
