About the role
The Focus Director leads the work of the Focus team – an in-house continuous improvement and change function at the University. The Director will provide strategic direction for Focus, ensuring the overall programme of work across the projects, consultancy, service reviews and continuous improvement portfolios is coherent and supportive of the University's needs and appropriately aligned with other strategic initiatives. The individual will act as ambassador for Focus and the role it can play in supporting improvement in the University's operations – particularly in professional services.
The Director will manage the Focus team consisting of c.13 FTE (plus external consultancy support as required), ensuring that the team are skilled and resourced appropriately, with clarity of purpose, team role and operating levels supported by a well-maintained methodology.
The individual will report to the Director of PACS and be a member of the PACS senior leadership team.
About you
You will be an experienced leader, with a proven ability to manage and deliver successful projects and programmes in a collaborative way with a wide array of stakeholders. You will have a strong understanding of continuous improvement and Lean principles and operating practices, and excellent influencing and negotiation skills. A good understanding of how to deliver and lead change at the University is desirable.
