Early Years Pedagogical and Quality Lead

Student And Academic Services Other Grade 6 - £30,487 - £37,099 per annum, dependent on experience

As Quality and Pedagogical Lead, you will support us to deliver our vision of early education and care that transforms outcomes for young children.

The university has two nurseries that form part of the Early Years Community Research Centre (EYCRC).

The practice at the nurseries is underpinned by our commitment to the importance of respectful, equal and caring relationships - between children, practitioners, parents and carers, partners and our communities.

Watch for a flavour of how we work with our partners and the wider community.

As Quality and Pedagogical Lead, you will support the development of quality practice at an individual and team level, ensuring that staff achieve their potential and support young children to do the same. You will work with the leadership team to identify priorities for improvement and action plan to progress these.

The role will be based at our Meadows nursery in Shirecliffe and will include delivering 1:1 mentoring and support, team training sessions and whole nursery CPD for both sites; researching evidence-based practice; supporting high quality interactions; developing relational and trauma-informed approaches; and working with collaborative partners, particularly within the Foundation Stage at Watercliffe Meadow School.

There may be occasions when you will be required to support our nursery at Collegiate Campus, off Ecclesall Road.

A minimum of a full and relevant Level 3 qualification in early years education and care, as defined by the Department for Education on the Early Years Qualifications List and Ofsted Welfare Requirements, with previous experience of leading in an early years setting, is essential.

Please note that this role is working full-time for 39 weeks of the year (term-time). You will be paid equally over the 12 months of the year

If you are offered this post, you will be subject to an enhanced with child barred lists check by the Disclosure and Barring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from working at Sheffield Hallam University but its relevance to the duties of the post will need to be assessed before the appointment is confirmed.

We offer a diverse range of benefits and opportunities to pursue a rewarding and fulfilling career in a supportive environment.

You will be contractually enrolled into the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) – one of the largest and most generous defined benefit pension schemes in the country.

Find out more about the LGPS.

If you are, or have been, a recent member of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) directly prior to joining us, you can choose to opt out of the LGPS and remain in the USS. Please contact the Pensions team to discuss options available.

For this job, we particularly welcome applications from minority ethnic applicants who are underrepresented in this area/ this type of job at Sheffield Hallam.
