About The Role

We are looking to recruit a motivated End User Device Engineer to join our End User Device team within the Infrastructure Directorate. The role will be primarily based at our Penryn campus but will also require occasional support at other campuses.

The End User Device team is responsible for providing 2nd line support to all staff, students and visitors within Falmouth University, University of Exeter, The Students Union and FX Plus. You will be responsible for ensuring that logged incidents and service requests are responded to promptly within service level agreements and resolved with as little disruption to the end-user as possible. You will provide a central role in the support of the end-user device fleet which includes items such as laptops, desktops and audio-visual equipment and will have a good understanding of most of the technologies the role is responsible for.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for communicating at all stages with the end-user. You will also ensure that all work is accounted for within the service management system.

About You

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to staff and students at Falmouth University, University of Exeter, The Students Union and other partner organisations. You will have good problem solving skills, good attention to detail and the ability to work well independently but also work well as part of a team. Alongside these key skills, we are looking for a positive, supportive and a flexible team player.

The ideal candidate would have the following experience:

  • Strong experience working in a previous 2nd line support role
  • Strong experience supporting desktop environments for Windows and/or MacOS
  • Strong experience supporting some Audio Visual services
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office 365 products and services
  • Good ability to create documentation to our knowledge base
  • Some awareness of SCCM / Jamf & TCP/IP
  • Willingness to develop and progress

    This position is offered on a 37.5 hour a week, full time, permanent contract working across Monday-Friday. The role is campus based and limited remote working is available where agreed with the line manager. Some out of hours work may be required around critical periods.
