Job Purpose
The post holder will proactively contribute towards delivering the strategic aims and ambitions of the Glasgow Science Festival and associated projects. The role will involve providing administrative support, end to end event management and supporting communications with an extensive network of stakeholders, partners, and audiences, both internally and externally. Raising the profile of the festival and associated activities through various channels (e.g., web, digital, socials, in-person). The successful candidate will work with the Festival Director to create and support the development and delivery of high-quality research-linked public and community engagement activity.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Manage festival administration, prioritising workloads, managing deadlines, liaising with partners, and collating large volumes of event information to support decision making around programming.
2. Develop materials as required for marketing and communications with internal and external audiences e.g. briefing documents, presentations, newsletters. Writing the copy and making effective use of GSF artwork, branding, and photography.
3. Support the Festival Director with all aspects of event management, including planning, logistics, budgets, delivery and evaluation.
4. Responsible for liaising with internal and external stakeholders, venue partners, and content partners for e.g. programming, delivery, marketing.
5. Work closely with the GSF Director and wider team with the development and delivery of high-quality engagement projects and events.
6. Support our research staff and students with creating impactful and engaging research-linked content, appropriate for the target outcomes and audience.
7. Supervise casual workers and volunteers as required, liaise with the team to manage staffing resources and assist the GSF Director with training and recruitment.
8. Work with the Comms & Engagement Officer to create engaging content across various digital & social platforms that drives engagement, builds communities, and raises awareness of GSF and our wider strategic priorities.
9. Promotion of GSF activity to the public, community groups, schools and other stakeholders through social media platforms, online listings, partner communications teams and other avenues, as required.
10. Responsible for reviewing and updating content on the GSF webpages through the T4 platform, following guidance from the Director. Improving the user experience and ensuring the website meets required digital accessibility standards.
11. Collate, analyse, and report on data sets such as audience and event evaluation, website and socials. To inform decision making and funder reporting.
12. To act as the main point of contact and be responsible for day-to-day queries, using initiative and judgement to resolve queries independently, or re-direct to others as required.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential:
A1 Either: Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role.
Or: Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 7 (Advanced Higher / Scottish Vocational Qualification level 3, Higher National Certificate) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role.
A2 Knowledge of best practice in public engagement content development and delivery
A3 Knowledge of event management and planning processes.
A4 Knowledge of social media platforms and content creation for the purposes of promotion and engagement with events and / or research activity
Desirable:
B1 Knowledge of the public engagement funding landscape
Skills
Essential:
C1 Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage a range of activities, meet deadlines and prioritise appropriately.
C2 Proven ability to create and support others with the creation of quality public engagement activities
C3 Skilled in social media e.g. image editing, copywriting, video creation
C4 Ability to demonstrate initiative, and exercise judgement to resolve problems independently
C5 Ability to work efficiently under pressure with excellent attention to detail.
C6 Strong data handling, analyses and report writing capabilities
C7 Excellent interpersonal written, communication skills and customer service skills
C8 Excellent office IT skills, including. databases, Excel, MS Teams and other Office tools.
Experience
Essential:
E1:Experience in supporting the development, delivery, and evaluation of high- quality public engagement events
E2:Experience in event management of public engagement programmes
E3:Experience of using social media in a formal or professional setting
E4 Proven track record of engaging with a range of partners, stakeholders and audiences
E5 Supporting or supervising other staff or volunteers
E6 Working knowledge of T4 web content management system or equivalent
Desirable:
F1 Experience of designing posters or flyers using (e.g., Adobe Illustrator)
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 5, £25,138 - £29,605 per annum.
This post is full time and has funding for up to 12 months from the start date in first instance.
