City, State Description of OrganizationThe Rafiki Foundation's almost 40-year mission has been to help people know God and raise their standard of living. Our vision is to cultivate a multitude of godly contributors around the world! Rafiki accomplishes this by providing a Reformed Bible study and excellent classical Christian school curriculum through Rafiki schools and church partner schools in 10 African countries, primarily serving impoverished and at-risk children and youth.
Rafiki serves in these ten African countries: Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia.
Each Rafiki Village is located on a beautiful 50-acre campus – each with 20-30 buildings consisting of a children's home for orphans, a prek-12 classical Christian school for orphans and impoverished children from the surrounding community, and seven sites have a classical Christian teacher's college for high school graduates.
Rafiki has three proprietary resources: Rafiki Bible Study, Rafiki Classical Christian Curriculum (PreK-Grade 12), and Rafiki Teacher's College Curriculum.
This meets a strategic and desperate need in Africa, where it is projected the continent needs 6,000,000 teachers by 2050. Classical Christian teachers are disciple makers and God has given Rafiki a program that can enhance and equip the church in Africa to bear much fruit in the next generation of the world.
Rafiki Foundation partners with 23 African church denominations across 10 countries in Africa. Rafiki seeks to provide our African church partners not only a classical Christian PreK-12 curriculum and education system, but also a Bible study for all 66 books of the Bible written by Reformed theologians. The Rafiki Bible Study (RBS) is taught in Rafiki schools and Villages each day and is shared with our church partners for use in their schools, along with curriculum for every subject and an ESV Bible for teachers and every child who can read. The RBS has also been adapted as Sunday School lessons for partner churches. Rafiki has partnered with Ligonier Ministries and Crossway Publishing to not only provide Bibles for school children, but study Bibles and commentaries for our African church partner pastors and seminary students.
Help cultivate the next generation of global godly contributors to the world. Africa is home to the next generation – in the next 25 years, every other toddler to teenager will be born on the continent of Africa. Over 25% of the world's population will be on the African continent by 2050. Africa is home to the next generation and to the church, therefore it is the future of the church in the world.
The church in Africa is growing but the challenge is the rampant prosperity theology and other ideologies assailing the continent. There are two solid strategies for combatting this through the church that God has given Rafiki. Distributing sound Bible study and Reformed Bible study resources and transforming schools into classical Christian schools through the African church denominations. The material resources are available and we are bringing them to Africa! We are now praying for more missionaries who can assist church partner denominations in implementing the resources Rafiki offers.
