The School of Management (SoM) operates its Professional Services (PSS) through a set of teams, each of which is focused upon a distinct SoM function. Within this structure, the Dean's Office is a central hub that coordinates and supports PS delivery to align with SoM strategy. Each team is comprised of a range of differentiated roles to reflect functional specialisms as well as the scale and breadth of responsibilities held. Within each team, more senior roles reflect not only greater and broader responsibilities, but also contributions to the strategic leadership of the team's work.
Outside of the Dean's Office, the Alumni Relations & External Engagement team manages the SoM's relationships with a range of key stakeholders, notably including: SoM alumni; corporations; charitable organisations; industry bodies; and government. To secure the greatest, strategically aligned relational benefits to the SoM, the team seeks to strengthen and build mutual value into alumni relations and develop the SoM's portfolio of relationships with external organisations. For the latter, the team's work comprises a mix of relationship management (i.e. engaged stewardship of ongoing relationships) and business development (i.e. the identification and realisation of opportunities for new relationships that align with SoM strategy). Consistent with this, the PSS staff in the Alumni Relations & External Engagement team work collaboratively with academics in roles that carry responsibilities relating to external engagement (e.g. most notably, the Associate Dean for International).
The Alumni Relations & External Engagement team is structured into two sub- teams to reflect its delivery of two distinct SoM functions: Alumni Relations (which relates to a range of activities that engage with the SoM's previously-graduated students, including event organisation, communications and information management); and External Engagement (which covers the management and development of a range of SoM relationships, including single or multi-strand relationships with corporations, charities and government bodies).
Reporting to the Director of Operations in the SoM, the Head of Alumni and External Engagement is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Alumni Relations and External Engagement team. The post-holder contributes to the strategic leadership of the sub-teams within the Alumni Relations & External Engagement team and ensures the provision of effective PSS support to the Associate Dean (International).
This role is offered on a full time permanent basis. For an informal discussion, please contact Rohan Surana, Director of Operations [email protected] however please ensure you submit your application through our website.
Interviews will be held w/c 27th January 2025
