    We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated Hotel Receptionist to join our wider Commercial and Catering Team at the University of Northampton.

    The Hotel Receptionist will be responsible for supporting the Hotel Operations Manager at our onsite 32-bedroom Sunley hotel based on our fantastic Waterside Campus which is just over 5 years old. A perfect destination for business travellers, visitors to the University and anyone wishing to stay in Northampton.

    Our customers and students are at the heart of everything we do. You will need to ensure that this is paramount to everything you do.

    Responsibilities will also include:

  • Support with the day-to-day operation of the hotel.
  • Ensure that all guests and hotel service users are greeted and welcomed.
  • Ensure hotel reception areas are presentable, tidy, and welcoming. Be proactive in identifying and reporting faults or discrepancies in respect of infrastructure or service delivery for the immediate environment and take ownership of any faults reported by other building users. Follow up on reported faults to ensure timely rectification.
  • To manage the hotel car park barrier access for hotel users. Program room cards and maintain a customer database.
  • To verify guest's payment method, complete all guests' billings, accurately post charges to guest rooms and accounts.
  • Ensure that high standards are adhered to.
  • Comply with Data Protection and confidentiality requirements.
  • Manage conference room bookings.
  • Work with the house keeping team to ensure that rooms are clean and presented for customers.
  • Adhere to rules and policies of the hotel.
  • We are an accredited Living Wage Foundation Employer and currently pay the real living wage, which is currently £24,638 (for 37.5 hours per week). In recognition of this, the starting salary for this post has been increased to pay this higher amount which currently supersedes the actual Grade 3 salary before living wage.

    About you

    Our Hotel Receptionist will need to be passionate about delivering an outstanding customer experience and strive to always deliver a consistently high-quality product plus great service.

    You will need to have recent experience of working within a hotel or reception environment. You will have a good knowledge of using Microsoft Office and understanding of booking systems. You will have excellent communication and presentation skills.

    The ideal candidate will have;

  • Customer service experience
  • Good organisational skills
  • Confident with use of computers.
  • Numerate, with the ability to remember prices, simple mental arithmetic and counting cash
  • Ability to communicate in written and spoken English.
  • Friendly and reliable
  • Qualifications

  • Educated to GCSE level, or equivalent
