Imaging Technologist (Fixed Term)

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Imaging Technologist to join our Advanced Microscopy Facility in the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute, based in the Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre.

We are a large, multi-user core facility offering access to a comprehensive range of imaging platforms, including super-resolution confocal microscopy and live cell imaging, and transmission and scanning electron microscopy. We believe in creating a collaborative environment to support cutting-edge research, and serve as a friendly and approachable source of imaging expertise.

This is a rewarding role requiring an enthusiastic individual with in-depth experience of biological light microscopy to provide training and technical support to research staff and students. You will work as part of a small team to operate and maintain specialised imaging systems and troubleshoot issues with equipment, samples and experimental design.

With a keen interest in innovation, you will keep up to date with the latest imaging methodologies, collaborating with researchers to optimise protocols and develop new techniques. You will contribute towards facility management and deputise for the Facility Manager, administering booking and recharge systems and implementing safety and operational procedures.

You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships in a diverse environment. Strong IT and image analysis skills are essential, together with significant experience in providing a core service and training researchers of all ability levels. You must be able to work independently, prioritising tasks and organising your time accordingly.

You will ideally be qualified to degree level or equivalent. Extensive practical experience and specialist knowledge of confocal and widefield microscopy are essential. Coding skills and experience in electron microscopy are desirable.

This is a full-time role for 37 hours per week. Appointment will be made on a permanent basis.
