Interview dates: 16 and 17 October 2024
We are seeking to appoint a Knowledge Exchange support and bidding officer to work as part of the Knowledge Exchange team responsible for facilitating engagement with businesses and external organisations across all three academic faculties, institutes and centres. The post holder will work closely with our Knowledge Exchange leads and the wider KE team to develop relationships that will allow impact to be achieved and external income to be leveraged.
The main purpose of this post is to provide specialist advice and support to academic and research staff in applying for funding from external bodies for Knowledge Exchange(KE) and consultancy activity. The Knowledge Exchange Support and bidding officer will play a key role in supporting individual academics to develop knowledge exchange ideas into distinct and fundable projects. The post holder will also support the development of relevant documentation for each bid in addition to other administrative duties such as preparing and checking project budgets.
We want you to be able to carry out your work in a way that best supports UON and our students, but also you as an individual. We understand this may vary between different areas of the university as well as from one person to another. With Smarter Working you can work with increased flexibility, if you would like to, which can facilitate greater freedom and autonomy.
About you
You will have a keen interest to work at the forefront of knowledge exchange and an understanding of the University research environment. Educated to degree level (or equivalent level of experience), you will have excellent communication skills combined with a high level of integrity, self-motivation, and the ability to work to competing deadlines.
You will need an understanding of the sources of funding for Knowledge Exchange and a proven track record of successful bidding or tendering.
In addition, you will have previous experience of preparing written reports (or similar documentation), performing desk-based research, using databases and data manipulation, and stakeholder relationship management. Understanding of financial systems and project or programme budget administration will be useful skills in the post.
We are seeking a self-motivated, flexible and committed individual to join the team and would welcome an application if you feel you meet these expectations.

About Us
Come to the University of Northampton and you will see that we do things a bit differently.
We are one of the youngest universities in the UK but we are already leading the way in adding value to society, which we call social impact. We have won multiple awards for our work in this area, among others, but what matters the most to us is ensuring that our students and graduates have the opportunity to make their mark on the world too. That's why we were the first university in the UK to be named as a Changemaker Campus in 2012.
We want to break the mould of what Higher Education can be. This has led us to build a whole new University from the ground up that is designed to reflect the way that students actually learn rather than the way they are expected to learn. Waterside Campus opened in September 2018.
Our commitment to transforming lives and inspiring change is at the heart of all that we do.
Right to Work
All candidates will be asked to provide proof of eligibility to work in the UK at interview. The University can consider Skilled Worker visa sponsorship for this position subject to eligibility requirements of the points-based system being met.
Equality
We welcome applications from underrepresented groups.
The University of Northampton is committed to providing a vibrant, ethical and sustainable work, study and living environment that values equality, diversity and inclusion.
This commitment, along with our legal and moral obligations, provides an inclusive environment for staff, students and the public who may be affected by our activities.
