UCC wishes to appoint an experienced academic to the role of Lecturer (Assistant Professor internationally) in Computer Science (Mobile Systems/ Edge Computing). Reporting to the Head of School, Professor Dirk Pesch, the appointee will complement and strengthen the Schools' research and teaching interests in Mobile Computing / Edge Computing. The school continues to grow with the appointment of new staff with networked and mobile systems and edge computing expertise through the introduction of new courses and significant development of our research portfolio aligned with our nasc research centre https: // www. ucc.ie/en/nascresearch/ and UCC Futures – Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics https: // www. ucc.ie/en/futures/aidataanalytics/ as well as another relevant Future in Sustainability. UCC Futures is an ambitious new programme of research prioritisation coupled with an innovative academic recruitment strategy across ten indicative areas of strategic importance that will build a foundation for economic, societal and cultural resilience and prosperity. https: // www. ucc.ie/en/futures/#what-is-ucc-futures.

The School's strategy is to expand its research and teaching in the area of Mobile Systems/ Edge Computing, and candidates with relevant expertise are encouraged to apply. The School seeks to appoint a committed computer science academic, a dynamic and thoughtful person who will contribute to its research- led teaching ethos and research agenda.

The School of CSIT has 30 full-time academic staff and offers degrees at the Bachelor, Masters and Doctoral levels. It offers a welcoming and open working environment, with excellent administrative and technical support, and an inclusive collegiate experience underpinned by family-friendly policies at UCC.

Academic staff in the school have leadership roles in major national and international research initiatives, including the Research Ireland funded research centres CONNECT (Centre for Future Networks and Communications), Insight (Centre for Data Analytics and AI), and LERO (Irish Software Research Centre) as well as Horizon Europe funded research projects.

In addition, school academics spearhead and host the Research Ireland Centre for Research Training in Advanced Networks for Sustainable Societies and the Research Ireland Centre for Research Training in Artificial Intelligence.

Appointment may be made on the Lectureship Salary Scale: Above the Bar €76,863- €99.543 (Scale B) / €73,130 - €94,564 (Scale A)

Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
