  • About the position

    Applications are invited for a full-time, ongoing position in the newly formed Department of Ecological, Plant and Animal Sciences (EPAS) in the School of Agriculture, Biomedicine and Environment at La Trobe University's Bundoora Campus, Victoria, Australia.

    We seek to appoint an emerging research leader who will be an effective teacher in undergraduate courses. We invite applications from researchers working with plants, animals or other biota at the organismal, population, community or ecosystem level, including conservation biology.

    The Level B appointee will be expected to establish and maintain a dynamic research program, teach at the undergraduate level, and will contribute to interdisciplinary research within the Department, School and wider academic community.

    Skills and Experience

    To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • a PhD in ecology, botany, zoology, conservation biology or evolution, or a closely related field at the time of appointment.
  • A demonstrated track record of research excellence as evidenced by publications in highly regarded peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • The ability to communicate research results to a broad audience/the public.
  • The clear potential to establish an internationally recognized, externally funded research program that indicates the potential to be a leader in their field of biological science.
  • A demonstrated track record of teaching excellence in a variety of face- to-face and/or hybrid and online modes to actively engage and educate undergraduate students to ensure student success.
  • Ability and interest in developing or contributing to field courses.
  • A flexible mindset to take advantage of diverse opportunities from emerging technology and research directions in ecology.
  • An ability to mentor undergraduate and post-graduate students.
