Applications are invited for an appointment as Lecturer in Population and Policy Analysis in the Faculty of Social Sciences (Ref.: 530806), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

The Faculty of Social Sciences (FOSS) is launching a new taught postgraduate programme of Master of Social Sciences in the field of Population and Policy Analysis (MPopPA). Population and Policy Analysis is an interdisciplinary field that studies population dynamics, their societal implications, and the development of policies to address demographic challenges and their impacts on society and the economy.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach some, but not all, of the courses offered by the programme(s):
  • Supervise and coordinate the graduate student capstone projects
  • Provide administrative support for programme operations, such as student admissions and interview, and support students' academic and professional development
  • Selection Criteria

    Applicants should possess a Master's degree or above in population studies with the focus on policy analysis or a relevant social sciences field. Priority will be given to those with:

  • Post-qualification working experience in relevant professional or academic settings;
  • Interdisciplinary teaching and research; and
  • Experience working with persons from diverse social, cultural and linguistic backgrounds is expected, alongside excellent communication skills in English.
  • What We Offer

    A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
