About the position
The School of Education at La Trobe University has gone through a period of
renewal and has adopted an ambitious strategic plan that is intended to
reinvigorate the School's research and coursework portfolio and connectivity
with stakeholder groups and industry.
The School seeks to appoint either a Level B teaching and research academic or
a teaching focussed academic. As a Level B teaching and research academic you
will be expected to develop curriculum, teach, and undertake research or other
scholarly work relevant to the development of their discipline or professional
field. As a Level B with a teaching focussed appointment, you will be expected
to develop curriculum, coordinate subjects, teach and support students as they
learn. You will also be expected to undertake scholarly work relevant to the
development of their discipline or professional field. In addition, to
supporting the administrative functions of the discipline.
Some of your duties will include:
Develop, coordinate and teach a high-quality learning experience that
engages students through the conduct of tutorials, practical classes,
demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions
and/or studio sessions.
Demonstrate a scholarly approach to learning and teaching and contribute
to disciplinary teaching pedagogy and research.
Keep abreast of innovations in teaching and learning in areas such as, but
not restricted to, online and blended delivery and incorporate where
appropriate, to continually develop professional practice skills/knowledge
and expertise.
Conduct and publish, or otherwise disseminate high quality and/or high
impact Scholarship of Learning and Teaching (SOLT) as a member of a team
or independently and produce conference/seminar papers and publications
from that research.
Skills & Experience
PhD or equivalent accreditation and standing recognised by the
University/profession as appropriate for the relevant discipline areas.
Demonstrated experience in English curriculum and pedagogy, and a deep
understanding of current research and trends that inform quality pedagogy
in a range of learning environments to drive high stakes assessment.
Demonstrated understanding and experience of the learning sciences that
inform impactful learning in teacher education, with strong understanding
and application of skills in digital learning.
Demonstrated experience in developing innovative curriculum using
evidence-based approaches for quality and impactful learning
opportunities.
Demonstrated ability to engage with industry leaders in education to
develop opportunities for course and research and/or SOLT collaborations.
Evidence of high quality and/or high impact research and/or SOLT conducted
and published or otherwise disseminated, relative to opportunity.
Highly Desirable
Experience in the preparation of research or SOLT proposal submissions to
external funding bodies and evidence of success in securing research
funding.
Graduate Certificate in Higher Education or similar evidence of
professional preparation for Higher Education teaching.
