Lecturer (LI CBT) (Education and Scholarship)

Job description

Faculty of Health and Life Sciences

INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY

This new full-time post is immediately available until 31 July 2026 on a fixed term basis within Clinical Education Research and Development (CEDAR); Psychology.

The post is to join the training team on PG/Grad Cert Psychological Therapies (Low-Intensity CBT) programme and at times work across the portfolio to contribute to other programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a highly esteemed PWP training programme as it grows and develops the mental health workforce. We offer a wide-ranging portfolio of professional training programmes with Low-Intensity CBT, from undergraduate up to master's level, through to post-qualification and advanced practice courses. There will be scope to work across these programmes depending on skills, experience and interests.

Although we are recruiting posts on a fixed term basis, it is highly likely that, subject to funding, the posts can be extended. As such, we are hoping to recruit staff that are committed to this role rather than wanting a short-term contract or a temporary role.

We would consider part-time applicants, although we would require a minimum of 3 days per week with us, with a requirement to work Wednesday and Thursday on the programme.

We are unable to offer the post remotely, but would be able to accommodate hybrid working, provided you are willing and able to travel for face-to-face teaching & meetings as needed. We teach in various locations such as Exeter (University campus), Bristol, and London and the South-East. Please indicate in your application your preference for the number of days you would be looking to work in the post and the region(s) you would most easily be able to travel to.

The role

Due to the continued expansion of the PWP training at the University of Exeter, we are looking for dedicated, organised, caring individuals who hold a PWP qualification to become part of the CEDAR clinical education team as a Lecturer. If you have an interest in sharing and developing great Step 2 practice and in supporting and advising trainee PWPs through their training, and mentoring staff to support skill development then we would welcome your application.

You will have responsibility for the continued development of the programme, training materials and delivery of training days and lectures. Through working with your programme lead, lecturer and associate lecturer colleagues, you will facilitate the delivery of the programme in accordance with the PWP training curriculum.

You will work with the Programme Lead and the low intensity CBT teaching and admin teams to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of teaching programmes in accordance with the Faculty's education strategy and implementing the External Affairs strategy. You will contribute directly to programmes associated with the Department of Health's NHS Talking Therapies: Anxiety and Depression services in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. You will also be required to liaise effectively with a range of external stakeholder groups.

This is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to and shape the delivery of the PWP training so that it becomes as inclusive and effective as possible. You'll be joining a team of hardworking, committed, and supportive practitioners and educators whose aim is to provide the most effective training experience possible in conjunction with our NHS Talking Therapies partners.
