Health Professions Education Centre

HPEC's vison is to support RCSI to be leading edge in its approach to teaching and learning and ensure it benefits from evidence-based curricula that are continuously improved and evaluated for the benefit of students, patients, staff and the international communities it serves.

The core mission of HPEC is to develop and inform teaching and learning and to ensure education at RCSI meets the needs of our future healthcare professionals. HPEC seeks to facilitate the development of the educational culture to ensure there is a critical mass of staff with educational expertise to inform and improve our range of healthcare curricula and ensure our graduates are prepared for practice nationally and internationally.

Objective of the post

The Health Professions Education Centre are seeking a temporary Lecturer to join the HPEC team to deliver on an Erasmus + project called Teamcare. The post holder will help support the implementation of a series of micro- credentials to educate community healthcare teams to deliver and integrate interprofessional care to healthcare teams in the community. The ideal candidate will have a background in general adult community health clinical practice and health professional education.

The principal objective of the post is to lead and participate in the development, direction, teaching, facilitation for the Teamcare micro- credentials, and support collection of assessment data. The successful candidate may also assist with the general work of HPEC, ensuring academic quality and consistency across the RCSI campus.

Specific Responsibilities include:

• Lead in the administration, design and delivery of the interprofessional Teamcare micro-credentials, teaching health professionals in community health settings across Ireland

• Undertake collaborative research that complements and develops the Teamcare project, and contributes to academic publication

• Design and implement the teaching modalities and modes of assessment for the Teamcare micro-credentials

• Liaise with colleagues across RCSI international campuses in the facilitation of research and teaching activities

• Liaise with international colleagues on the Teamcare grant (based in Italy, Poland and Greece)

• Contributing to quality assurance/quality improvement and accreditation of existing modules

• Undergoing the Teamcare programme of Faculty Development training and development in 2025

• Undertaking overseas assignments as may be required from time to time

• Employing a collaborative ethos in all aspects of academic practice

• Performing such other related duties as may be required

• Representing the best interests of the School and RCSI

Person Specification Essential:

• Health professional clinical background

• PhD degree in an education or social science discipline

• Previous senior leadership in a clinical context

• Has significant experience in delivering HPE courses

• Has recent experience in interprofessional teaching and learning

• Has a track record in research, conference and presentation skills

• Has excellent computer, and verbal & written communication skills

• Has a strong teaching interest and skill set, as evidenced by experience of, a proven track record in, and enthusiasm for postgraduate teaching and assessment
