Job Description
Under general direction of Supervisor Plant Operations and/or Charge Hand plant operations the position performs a wide variety of plumbing duties as part of a team as they relate to the operations in the Campus Operations team. These duties include inspecting plumbing, steam fitting, gas fitting, welding, soldering, sprinkler systems, fire equipment, pumps and valves, repairs to hot and cold water lines, sanitary storm sewers and drainage problems, maintains overhauls and repairs steam lines, traps, heat exchangers, sterilizers and other related equipment, updates documentation for plumbing and steam services, including charts and valve tags as well as performing duties involved in preventative maintenance and trouble shooting.
The incumbent is responsible for quality work in a timely manner and ensuring that all duties are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with all statutory codes and regulations and any operational systems established by the department from time to time. At times, may be required to meet the operational needs of the university team including working in extreme weather conditions or assisting with other teams.

Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience: ⦁ Journeyman Plumber with BC Certification or Inter-Provincial. ⦁ Possess a “B” gas fitter's ticket. ⦁ Grade 12 plus five (5) years of practical experience, preferably in an institutional setting or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. ⦁ Knowledge of WHMIS and H&S Policy and procedures. ⦁ Possession of a valid Class 5 driver's license in the province of BC. ⦁ Knowledge of basic safety, equipment maintenance and presenting technical information.
Skills and Abilities: ⦁ Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing and by email. ⦁ Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. ⦁ Ability to operate equipment related to duties and work performed. ⦁ Ability to work independently and in a team environment. ⦁ General knowledge of procedures involved in work performed. ⦁ Ability to read and update blueprints. ⦁ Familiar with required tools for trade. ⦁ Demonstrated experience and understanding of backflow.
Additional Information
This position is regular full-time working 37.5 hours per week. The successful candidate must have the ability to work a variety of shifts including weekends.
