As the Manager, Media and Content, you will be the 2IC for the media function at UQ, playing a crucial role in helping to shape the University's storytelling and narrative for our key audiences of media, industry, government, and community.
Spearheading a team of 4 talented and passionate content and media specialists, and working closely with the Senior Manager, Media and Content, you will assist in developing and executing corporate communication content strategies aligned with the University's strategic mission and priorities.
Duties and Responsibilities also include, but are not limited to:
Develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy to enhance UQ's reputation and align with strategic priorities, delivering high-quality content and respond to media enquiries.
Lead editorial decision-making for the University's primary content hub as a ‘chief-of-staff' for the media and content function.
Build relationships with UQ experts and specialist media to create relevant, strategically aligned content that meets high editorial standards across multiple platforms.
Oversee content distribution strategies to maximise reach, monitor performance, and adjust tactics for optimal engagement.
Provide expert advice on media and content development, collaborate across units, and ensure alignment with UQ's communication goals, including occasional after-hours support.

Our ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in communication, media, or content roles, with a demonstrated track record of creating and implementing strategic content plans and identifying emerging opportunities within the news cycle. You will possess excellent editorial judgment and a creative flair for crafting innovative content across multiple platforms, including video and digital media.
We value a strategic thinker who can quickly grasp complex topics and solve problems effectively under tight deadlines, ensuring a consistently high standard of work. Additionally, strong interpersonal, influencing, and advisory skills are essential, as the role requires the ability to work collaboratively to build support for new approaches and drive successful outcomes.
