Curtin University within the School of Electrical Engineering, Computing and
Mathematical Sciences (EECMS).
Your new role
As an integral member of the school's leadership team, you will collaborate
with our academics to manage all EECMS projects involving external partners.
Reporting directly to the Head of School you will be pivotal in fostering and
advancing our external partnerships and ensuring alignment with our research
and teaching programs in cutting-edge fields such as digital technologies and
energy transition.
Your role will encompass the planning, coordination, and execution of projects
from initiation through to their successful transition into business-as-usual
(BAU). You will collaborate with academics and professional staff across our
campus and engage with industry senior managers and stakeholders to ensure our
projects meet objectives and align with our strategic goals.
The role requires a leader who understands the dynamics of the university eco-
systems and can work within this to foster successful relationships. Providing
the right environment to enable our teaching and research academics to develop
and deliver new projects is a critical part of the role.
Ideally you will be an expert in one of the key objectives identified in the
Curtin 2030 Strategic Plan.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Development: Collaborate with the leadership team in the
development and implementation of the school strategic vision
Project Management: Direct and coordinate activities to manage
projects and programs from proposal initiation to operational stage,
including transition into BAU.
Stakeholder Engagement: Influence and negotiate with senior managers
and key stakeholders to align projects with strategic plans and business
goals.
Researcher Engagement: Collaborate with the school's researchers to
assist them to deliver industry sponsored projects.
Team Leadership: Lead and manage cross-functional project teams,
fostering open communication and effective teamwork.
Contract Management: Oversee complex contracts with external
providers, ensuring successful delivery of contracted services.
Budget and Reporting: Develop program budgets and provide detailed
costing and budget reports to key stakeholders. Monitor progress, report
on performance, and undertake post-implementation reviews .
Governance and Communication : Manage program/project governance,
chair stakeholder meetings, and deliver high-level presentations.

Postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience in managing
significant resources or large-scale projects, or an equivalent
combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:
High-level creative, planning, and management skills with the ability to
achieve business objectives within complex organisational structures.
Knowledge of and experience in the tertiary education sector specifically
with researchers.
Outstanding leadership skills and the capacity to manage change in a
complex environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to
negotiate and liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Strong written communication skills for constructing clear, concise, and
persuasive reports.
Highly developed organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and
projects simultaneously.
Strong financial and budget management understanding.
Critical analysis skills with sound judgment in complex decision-making.
Experience with sustainability, ESG, and net-zero considerations,
including related legislation and government policies.
Experience managing commercial partnerships and supporting research
innovation and commercialisation.
